The project is part of a program to revitalize and integrate the Arsenale of Venice with the city activities. The location is the west bank of the Darsena Vecchia and the program includes a university building for the School of Design.
The building occupies a plot along the fondamenta and it is composed by two main blocks forming a V-shape in plan and revolving around a central open court.
The west facade is covered by two different kind of bricks while the east facade, overlooking the channel, is glazed and open towards the fondamenta.
The building includes both some traditional material of the Arsenale, while introducing more modern elements in steel, glass and perforated metal.
